- Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
- Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS)

Couples counseling can take many different approaches, depending on the therapist and the needs of the couple. EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy) is a specific, evidence-based approach that focuses on the emotional patterns between partners—helping couples understand their cycle, strengthen their emotional connection, and create lasting change. Other approaches may focus more on communication, problem-solving, or specific relationship challenges.
Our first meeting will be a free, 10-minute phone consultation.
After we assess your needs and determine if we’re the right fit together, you’ll be scheduled with one of our therapists for your first 45-minute session. Your therapist will ask about your concerns, goals, history and therapy experience, as well as answer any questions you have.
We value keeping things real within our practice. If after a few sessions you don’t feel your therapist is a great match, we’ll work with you to find another solution. Your comfort and happiness matters.

About the Therapy Process
Psychotherapy is a form of talk therapy. It addresses your psychological and emotional issues so you can improve your mental health and well-being.
Therapy offers a collaborative relationship and a safe space to explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviors.
Through various therapeutic techniques, psychotherapy can help you gain insight, develop coping strategies and make positive changes in your life.
Yes, it’s completely natural to feel nervous and vulnerable during your early therapy sessions.
We recognize this, and have worked to create a safe and supportive environment for you to explore your real emotions and concerns. As you build a relationship with your therapist, you’ll feel more ease and comfort.
Psychotherapy might be a good fit for you if you’re:
- Feeling emotional distress
- Struggling with intimacy and communication in your relationships
- Facing life transitions
- Dealing with unresolved trauma
- Experiencing persistent symptoms of mental health conditions such as anxiety or depression
- Seeking coping skills, insights and personal growth
If your daily functioning, well-being and relationships are being negatively impacted, don’t wait to begin therapy.
Our consultation call is a great place to start. We’ll learn more about what you’re looking for and match you with a therapist based on fit, availability, location, and clinical experience. We’ll help you find the right fit for your needs and preferences.
The frequency and duration of therapy depends on your individual goals, progress and availability. While we recommend weekly sessions in the beginning, you’ll work with your therapist to establish a treatment plan that fits your needs. Our sessions typically last 45 minutes; however, longer sessions can be arranged if needed.
It can be beneficial to continue therapy even if you start feeling better. Ongoing therapy can help you solidify your progress, prevent relapse and boost your well-being.
Improvement from therapy is non-linear and different for everyone.
Some individuals may notice improvements within a few weeks or months. Others, who have more complex issues, will achieve progress across several months or years. What matters most is our own individual progress rather than our pace.
Your therapist will provide guidance along the way and help you set realistic expectations in your own healing journey.
We do not prescribe medication, but work closely with doctors and psychiatrists who do. They can evaluate your individual needs and prescribe medication if needed.
