5 Tips To A Happier Day
Whether you are struggling with not enough sleep, too many things on your to do list, or anxiety that won’t leave you, starting your day off right is important. Focus on these steps to set your day in a happier direction.
Here are 5 Tips To A Happier Day:
1. Before your feet hit the floor, before you get out of bed, set your intention for the day.
It’s so easy to hit the ‘snooze’ button, grab your phone, realize you are late and have to run to make up the time. Awake a few minutes early so you give yourself plenty of time to wake up slowly. Notice the impulse to check your email and your messages. Ideally leave your phone away from the side of your bed so that you aren’t tempted. Allow yourself to fully awaken, set your intention, and get out of bed before you start turning on the electronic devices. Your intention can be something simple such as “I want a day where I flow through the day” or something really specific “My intention is to feel confident in my meeting’ or “With everyone I meet, I will practice kindness first and foremost’. Pick an intention that resonates and is easy to remember.
2. Eat Breakfast
So many times we are rushing and aren’t able to eat. Find a breakfast that works for you, whether a smoothie or oatmeal you make the night before. Eating a healthy and balanced breakfast can help us feel more grounded, more focused, and happier.
3. Get some exercise, preferably in the fresh air.
Even if you have a few minutes for a walk with your dog, or even around the block, getting fresh air can really help us feel happier. We feel less anxious and over whelmed and are more able to start the day with a feeling of optimism.
4. Make a list of what you need to do today.
Instead of being overwhelmed by all of the errands, chores, or work you have to accomplish in one day, make a list and let it go. Making a list on your phone can help you save time because you won’t be searching for the scrap piece of paper. There are some great ‘note taking’ apps. You can also set an alarm if you need some help remembering your tasks. Writing things down helps us alleviate mind chatter and stress.
5. Remember your gratitude.
So many times we get bogged down in life’s daily challenges that we truly forget to be grateful for who or what we have in our lives. Making a simple list of things we are grateful is a good idea, but when we don’t have time, just taking a moment to be grateful, whether we share it or not with others, can be very powerful and make us feel happier.
