Tending to Your Heart-Rediscovering the Meaning of Valentine’s Day
“How much we know and understand ourselves is critically important, but there is something that is even more essential to living a Wholehearted life: loving ourselves.” Brene Brown
February is the month of love. For a lot of people, Valentine’s Day can be a triggering day filled with feelings of unworthiness or sadness. What if you were to break out of the usual V day doldrums and claim the day for yourself? Perhaps this year, Valentine’s Day can be about loving yourself wholeheartedly.
What if you were to take the whole day to treat yourself to kindness and compassion? A day where you get to be exactly who you are and that be okay. What would it be like to allow yourself one day to not be perfect?
Embracing ourselves is a practice that invites us to gently come back and be with where we are, in full compassion. Remembering to slow down, take a deep breath, and remember our gratitude are all ways to bring us back to ourselves.
This year, challenge yourself to rethink this holiday. May it be one of learning more about yourself, wholeheartedly.
